Infinite Future is a prog rock album of rare breadth and intentionality. Across five tracks — from a 12-minute sci-fi epic to a Morricone-inspired ballad to an 8-minute symphonic guitar showcase — McGraw constructs a world unto itself, unified by a theme of forward motion: against doom, against stagnation, toward the stars.

It is at once a celebration of the prog tradition — the ambition of Rush, the orchestral sweep of Dream Theater, the melodic invention of classic concept albums — and a statement about the present moment. Infinite Future is music for people who still believe in humanity.

About the artist

Chris McGraw is a Portland-based composer, songwriter, guitarist, bassist, and producer whose music spans progressive rock, orchestral composition, and cinematic instrumental work with equal ambition and conviction.

Raised in Wasilla, Alaska, McGraw's musical path began with classical music before Rush's 2112 ignited a lifelong obsession with prog rock. Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption" sealed the deal: he got his first guitar at 16 and never looked back.

His debut album Photon Life (2003), entirely instrumental, announced a self-taught multi-instrumentalist of uncommon range. Since then he has fronted and collaborated with several bands — including the jazz-inflected Noir City — scored indie films (the sci-fi feature Ambrosia), and released the acclaimed Reason and Romance (2020). He has also written and had professionally performed original pieces for solo piano and chamber ensemble.

Infinite Future is his most fully realized work yet.
